Last year one of America’s talented rappers encountered some difficulties, but now Krazie T is back in action. After three months, the 24-year-old rapper is back with T III which is hitting stores next month. The cd has collaborations with different artists, and all the songs were written while he was in prison. Krazie T’s first cd (something) flew off charts and got several awards at the BET Awards in 2003 which made him the youngest rapper to ever win such awards. After 6 cds and numerous mix tapes, America is ready for T domination.
RS: You have gradually improved into a very successful artist throughout the years and collaborated with many talented people. What is it like doing music for all these years?
KT: You know man; I have been doing this shit for a very long time. It’s just [laughs] nobody knows what people go through to make it to the top. My music comes from the heart. I don’t fucking write shit. I keep stored in my head. Everyone has it written down, but that shit don’t roll with me. Nah, but music is my life. It is my soul. It is what makes me breath.
RS: Well I am pretty sure everyone shares the same spirit about music like you do. All musicians have the same talent, but you know that. Why else wouldn’t people make it today?
KT: Look, everyone just has those same exact stories. They get fucking boring. My life sucked, so I am going to write a song about it. Okay, do you want a damn cookie? Look some people were born into this type of lifestyle. Some people struggled. The people born into it don’t have talent. They are going to have like a couple of hit songs, and then just fade away. Now the ones that have struggled to make it to the top, [pause] those are the ones people need to be looking at.
RS: We all know you are the city with some of the best rappers have come from, which were your biggest influences?
KT: Atlanta has a lot of rappers there that haven’t been found yet. Everywhere in that city has fresh meat waiting to be snatched. I stood outside Universal Records rapping my ass off. I went to different battles in the Underground district just to be number one. I snuck out all the time, but I definitely have to say Notorious B.I.G., A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, Dr. Dre, 2 Live Crew, and Tupac. You can never go wrong with any of those people.
RS: T III is coming out next month, June 1st. What should America expect?
KT: My shit is original. People know that. They should expect something new; a breath of fucking fresh air. I give people what they want to hear. I have people who mix my tunes right. I have the best. I am the best. This shit hit me while I was in Prison last year. Big deal.
RS: For someone your age, was it difficult being in Prison for possession of drugs and fire arms?
KT: It wasn’t difficult. It was pretty much like what I did growing up. Watching my back. Everyone has to these days. Someone can give you a hug, but at the same time snatch your wallet. No one can be trusted. There are only a few people in my life I trust. There are people in this country who don’t get caught. I guess I was one of the unlucky ones man.
RS: Do you have any advice for people trying to make it in the music business today?
KT: You know, I want to tell everyone if they really want to be apart of the life of luxury. You need to want it with all your heart. It has to be the only thing you want. Then when that time comes, don't back out. Don't let any mother fucker in your way. Take a deep breath, and shut out your surroundings and give it your all. If it isn't well...you aren't cut out for the shit.
RS: Why?
KT: Why what? People think this business is the best thing and easiest thing. No. It is stressful, but the rewards are amazing. I give all my credits to my fans that brought me here when I was little. Yeah, I got into this place when I was around 15-years-old. Look at me now, I have everything I ever wanted.
RS: Are you happy with everything that has happened?
KT: Hell yeah, I am happy. I wouldn't want anything else. I just don't think everyone is cut out for it. People can dream, but dreams are made to be broken. I have broken many dreams, but I deal with.
